MIFF – 6 FESTIVALS

Rating: CTC
Duration: 90 mins
Director: Macario De Souza
Genre: Coming of Age, Drama, Music

Bra Boys director Macario De Souza assembles some of the biggest names in Aussie music in this youth-focused road-trip movie about the bonds we make when we throw caution to the wind.

Three mates who’ve all got serious drama happening decide to hit the open road and make it a summer of music festivals. They are determined to see their favourite artists live – G Flip, Peking Duk, Bliss n Eso, Ruby Fields – and nothing’s going to stop them. Not a health crisis, not a family rift, not the disappointment of unfulfilled dreams. As Summer, Maxie and James attempt to forget their troubles through music, they discover an even deeper friendship, encounter Aussie rites of passage and enjoy some wicked live acts in the process.

De Souza infuses his first narrative feature with raw, youthful energy. It’s got a cast of incredible up-and-comers and electrifying live performances that are a must-see on the big screen. 6 Festivals is a home-grown tour through the joys and the heartbreak of being on the cusp of adulthood, in all of its defiant, foul-mouthed and hormonally messy glory.

“A barnstormer of a film that thrives off the back of shooting enormous crowds going off at the real deal fests … Destined for cult status.” – Time Out
